Exciting changes are happening to this historic mill village located in Lexington, N.C. The village was built between 1912 and 1925. This was a well planned and fully self contained village. The homes were sold to individual home owners in the early 1950's. Over the years the village fell into decline. An idea started to develop in the early part of this decade and alot of planning went into where the village is today. In January 2008, the Village was designated by the National Park Service as a National Historic District. In January the State of North Carolina also awarded a $1,000,000 dollar grant to help with the renovation of the Park Circle area of the Village. This was the result of alot of folks, including the Lexington Historic Preservation Commision, the Planning and Development department of the City of Lexington and the Lexington City Council. A partnership with the Lexington Housing CDC is also producing great results. There are currently 8 homes that are in the program and for sale. Some of the homes are listed below. This is just the first phase and there are many homes available for purchase in the Village.
