    Lexington Tourism Authority will move office to new location

    The Board voted to lease the former Domino’s Pizza building on East Center Street  The authority’s office and visitors center will move into the former Domino’s Pizza building at 114 E. Center St. by Dec. 1, 2008. It is close to the Uptown and will have Public Rest Rooms and information available about areas of interest in Lexington.

    It is always nice to complete things you have to do in a nice, new environment. Do you need to use a laudromat? You now have a new choice. Located at the corner of Cotton Grove Rd and Main St. in Lexington there is a new Coin Laundry. They have the latest equipment in a new building that is heated and cooled. This is next to Family Video. I have heard it is owned by Nascar racer Steve Grissom.

    On, Second Ave. in Uptown Lexington the city's latest new restaurant is open for business. It is called Village Grill and features family dining in a newly renovated and very comfortable building. Check it out.

    Mi Puelblo, a Mexican Eatery that has many area locations is set to open at the Lexington Plaza shopping center. Major renovations are now taking place with an opening date coming soon.

    Lets take a little trip to Welcome. Have you seen the new retail center called Bradley Commons. It is located on old US 52. New stores include Total Indulgence Day Spa, Cafe Muddy Cups and Hungry Howie Pizza. Check them out.

    In case you havent noticed, Family Video is open for business at the location of the former Big Lots Building. After extensive renovations, Family Video moved into what in reality is a new business. There are additional retail space available and rumors that a new walkin laundry mat may move in. Also in an adjacent building, Daddy Rabbits, a sporting goods store specialing in hunting weapons has also opened. Across the street from Family Video a store called Candy Bouquet has opened.

    In Thomasville, a new art gallery named Best in Show has opened at 20 Salem St. It will highlight local artist including owner Joe Hedgepath who has a work shop at the rear of the gallery.

     

     

  • Summer heats up Business Openings

    Café 35, the popular restaurant at 103 S. Main St., is expanding by leasing space at 107 S. Main.
    The space will be used as a banquet facility and will be able to accomodate about 100 people. It will be available for things such as meetings and weddings. It will be available for bookings beginning in November


    The Mona Lisa Salon is a new full-service shop offering haircuts, permanents, coloring, manicures and pedicures, waxing and other services. The business serves men, women and children. Just a block or so north of the Lexington
    city limits. The number is 336-238-1800.


  • New Companies coming......

    So what is new in the county? Oh, you want me to tell you.....well......The new hotel at the Childress Vineyards is close to completion. It will be a Holiday Inn Suites. There will be themed rooms with furnishings from Timberlake's collection.

    Be looking for new construction on Lowes Blvd at the shopping center. Looks like at least building for 8 more stores. Who do you think will be there?

    In addition rumors have it that a new restaurant with an Italian theme will be building in existing space at the Vineyards Crossing.

    A long established business, Nations Catalog Outlet has moved to a larger retail space in the old Eckerds space at the Lexington Shopping Center located on Hwy 64.

    Family Video is now open at the corner of Cotton Grove and Main St. Family Video, a national chain is opening a full service retail store. You can go ahead and sign up by going to www.familyvideo.com. 

    Love to eat Ice Cream? At High Rock Landing shopping center you can get a super big bannana split at the new Mayberry's Restaurant and Ice Cream. The menu list over 37 flavors of ice cream. You can also get breakfast, sandwiches, appetizers, subs, burgers and some platters such as chicken or shrimp stir fry over rice or fettucini.

Native Vines Winery

 

Out at 1336 NC Hwy 150 in the Reeds Community music will soon be playing among the vines and summer breezes. The vineyard was the first in the nation to be owned by Native Americans and will host a summer music series called, "Summer Wine-d  Up".

The events will be held the 2nd and 4th Sat. of July, August and September. The hours are from 5pm till 10pm. The cost is $10 per person and includes music, a wine tasting and light hors d'doeuvres. The first will be held on July 12th. You can also purchase a season pass for all six events for $45.00.

Each event will feature a different North Carolina Band. Coolers are welcome but no outside alcohol will be permitted.

Each event will also be listed on DCH's calendar of events.
