| As part of their 2008 special event calendar the Lexington Farmer’s Market Association will hold an “Arts & Crafts” day on Saturday, September 13. Over a dozen guest artists and craft vendors will be on-site at the historic Train Depot demonstrating their talents and selling their work during regular Saturday market hours from 8:00 am – 12:00 noon. Individuals interested in showcasing their work must submit a registration form available from the Farmer’s Market manager during regular market hours or at the Davidson County Agriculture Extension office. For more information regarding craft vendor inquiries contact at Pam Spach at 499-6082. Registrations will be accepted through Monday, September 2. The Lexington Farmer’s Market is held at the historic Train Depot on Salisbury Street each Saturday from 8 am – 12 noon and on Wednesdays from 10 am – 2 pm. Sad news, happy news, not often does it occur at the same time. Wade Nichols, the Director of Uptown Lexington Inc. annouced that he has resigned to take a similar position in Shelby, N.C. Wade has been the Director here in Lexington for the past two years and has brought several new ideas to the Uptown program. He has always been very accessable and willing to listen to input from the public. The Uptown has benefited from his expertise and will be missed. Good luck in your new postion Wade!
In other news, Lexington Tourism Authority annouced the hiring of Robin Bivens as the Director. Robin brings a world of experiece to her job. She has represented both Bob Timberlake Galleries and The Mike Heselbeck Collection. Also she has worked for the magazine, Our State.
